Amanda & Chad’s Wedding

Amanda & Chad’s wedding was a elegant celebration with a inviting and garden-esque feel to it! With many custom touches they made the day their own. Beautiful ginger jars were one of the design inspirations and they paired perfectly with their color palette of earth toned neutrals, multiple shades of blue and green!

Amanda & Chad started their forever at the historic Vanlandingham Estate tucked into a Charlotte neighborhood. It was a beautiful spring celebration, and even though rain was looming in the forecast the week before, the skies cleared right before the weekend started. Amanda worked tirelessly the year leading up to her “I dos” to create so many intentional details, both with a magical set of vendors and her handy Cricut. A few of our favorites: the hand-painted taper candles as favors, a custom crest showcased throughout their invitations and decor, a mirrored seating chart, and last but not least, Amanda’s stunning collection of ginger jars. She asked Willow Floral Boutique to use these jars as a base for their work, and our team got to scatter the rest throughout the ceremony and reception spaces. VanLandingham Estate provides a secret garden feel tucked into a bustling city, with a greenhouse perfect for portraits and a first look. The tented reception space was teeming with creamy neutrals and pops of dusty blues – and a chandelier made of greenery featuring a disco ball! Cheers to The Polevoys, and we’re so thrilled we were part of March 11, 2023. -Olivia Lauren Events

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? We met in College at Queens University of Charlotte. We had similar friend groups but were never very close in College. After a few years of random social media post liking, Chad reached out to Amanda via DM after a night of drinking in the middle of the night, and we set up their first date. After a dinner at Open Kitchen, Amanda decided he was good enough for second date and the rest is history.

Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day? Having a memory table at our wedding was something that was very important to us. Both of us have lost significant people in our lives, and we wanted to make sure they were being remembered. The flowers for the wedding had many hydrangeas, which represented Amanda’s late grandmother, who she adored.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? On our wedding day, truly just having everyone together was the most important thing. We live in Charlotte, NC; while most of our family is from New York and New Jersey. This was a destination wedding for majority of our invitees, which made it even more special to see how many people traveled from near and far to celebrate. Being able to say I Do, and to dance the night away with all of our favorite people in one place, for the first time, was a dream come true.

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? One important piece of advice we can give to couples while planning a wedding (and tbh for regular life as well), it would be to have an open mind and try to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. You never know what’s on the other person’s mind regarding certain situations or choices. Sometimes, what seems trivial to you can be a really important sticking point for the other. It’s important to know WHY, not just the final choice. Being involved in the process together and having constant communication/openness helps make these things make more sense.

What is the most honest thing you can say about love? The most honest thing we can say about love is that it truly is magical. Talk about things, be there for each other, build a life together. When you find your person, lean into it. When you’re with your person, and truly love them, you can get through anything. Wedding planning is just the first task – but if you take it on together, and communicate, it will almost be fun!
