Amid the picturesque backdrop of a beachside venue, Jennah & Jackson’s Seaside wedding in February was a vibrant celebration, highlighted by an impeccable sense of style and heartwarming moments. Their carefully chosen color palette of stone blue, navy blue, citron, blonde wood, and whites perfectly complemented the whimsical beach setting, creating an unforgettable atmosphere!
Wedding Colors: stone blue, navy blue, citron, blonde wood, whites
Design/Vibe/Vision: Whimsical beachside, pops of color and textures. Priorities for the reception were a great/lively band, good food and tequila bar!
Wedding Gown: My wedding gown was amazing! It was designed by Lela Rose and was called “The Tide”. I took the name as a sign because I went to the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). The dress was a strapless ribbon cut silk gown with a full train. I added a shawl type cover to go over my shoulders for the ceremony made out of the same material. Then for the reception and going away, I wore the dress strapless. It was my favorite dress I’ve ever worn! Proposal Story: Jackson and I met junior year of college at a birthday party in October. My roommate was actually set up with him for a halloween date party for our sorority. We hit it off and were actually friends for about 5 months and then we started dating in March.
Jackson and I flew up to Richmond, VA (Jackson’s hometown) to celebrate his mom and grandfather’s birthday in July 2023. Jackson grew up going to his grandparent’s horse farm outside of Richmond that I had also been to a few times. On Friday afternoon, Jackson and I went to the farm to chat with his grandparents before we were going to lunch (or so I thought). We caught up with his grandparents for about an hour and then took a drive around the property. We stopped at the fishing pond and got out to walk around the dock and look at the new flowers his grandmother planted. Jackson walked me out to the point of the dock and that’s when he got down on one knee and popped the question! As we drove back to go to lunch, my whole family from Birmingham jumped out and surprised me! We had drinks and lunch and celebrated all together. It was such a memorable and special weekend.
Florals and Decor: My bridal bouquet was mostly white with touches of soft color. The Bridesmaids had smaller, slightly more colorful versions. All tailored and naturally round in shape. Jackson’s boutonnière was a white ranunculus and his groomsmen had white tulips-all tied up with a soft ribbon. THE BEAUTIFUL SEASIDE CHAPEL HOSTED THE CEREMONY. THE VENUE DID NOT REQUIRE ANYTHING IN THE WAY OF DEC- ORATION. HOWEVER, THE ALTAR WAS SET WITH WHITE PIL LAR CANDLES IN CLEAR GLASS CYLINDER VASES AND NESTLED INTO BEDS OF GREENERY, NATURAL AND TAILORED TO THE ALTAR. THERE WAS A CROSS MADE OF GREENERY IN THE CENTER OF THE ALTAR. AT THE RECEPTION, THE ENTRANCE TO THE TENT WAS LINED WITH CANDLES “UNDERPLANTED” WITH WHITE APRAY ROSES AND SOME GREENERY. THE DANCE FLOOR WAS THE CENTER OF THE TENT AND SURROUNDED BY COZY SEATING AREAS AND TABLES FOR ENJOYMENT OF REFRESHMENTS. Groomsmen Attire: All of the guys wore black tuxes in the wedding. I love the classy, clean and sophisticated look of a black tux. For bowties, Jackson picked Brackish Bowties to gift to all of the groomsmen. I think this gave their attire a unique and fun flare! They all looked so handsome. Bridesmaids Dresses: My bridesmaids dresses were from Bellas Bridesmaids designed by Jenny Yoo. Since our wedding was in February, I decided to do velvet dresses. For color, I chose “Stone Blue”, which went perfectly with all of the decor. I let the girls pick their own styles of the dress so they could feel the most comfortable in their dress. I thought they were so pretty and different and I got so many compliments on the beautiful dresses. Ceremony Music: Canon in D, “You’re Still The One” by Shania Twain and “Somewhere Only we Know” by Keane were played during the processional. All of these songs are special to Jackson and me in some way. For the recessional, “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac was played. Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band and a very special song to me. Special Detail: My Grandmother (Dad’s Mom) has a hand knitted cross that her great grandmother made many years ago. My grandma lent it to me on my wedding day to tie around my bouquet. The cross is blue and ivory. So it was my “something old, borrowed and blue!” I thought this was so special and sweet. My older sister got married in May and she tied the cross to her bouquet too. We will make it a tradition for many years to come! Special Memory: Jackson and I both loved taking pictures on the beach together directly following our ceremony. It was the first moment we shared together as newlyweds. This time was so special and fun as the sun was setting on the beach… these photos are some of our favorites from the day! Then we headed back to Alys Beach to meet all of our friends and family at the reception. Time to party! Food and Drink: Having excellent food and drinks at the reception was a top priority for us! Jackson and I both love trying new cuisines and are not picky eaters at all. Working with Townsend Catering was a dream. All of the food they prepared was delicious! Jackson and I both love Asian food, so we had a whole station designated to Asian Cuisine- Bao Buns, Fried Rice Boxes, Potstickers, crispy rice… so fun and cute! We also had a steak and potatoes station because you cannot go wrong with that. It was a crowd favorite. And lastly we had Fried grouper fingers and fries served in little pales, shrimp and grits as well as crab cakes-Because you have a taste of some seafood at the beach! The highlight of the evening I must say though was The tequila Bar! We lived in Fort Worth for 3 years together and grew to love tequila. We had a bar designated to just serving tequila and signature tequila drinks. It was so fun!! Maybe a little too much fun when the shots started being poured… haha! Reception: Mine and Jackson’s first dance was “Islands in the Stream” by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rodgers. We both love old country music and love to dance. We even added some swing dancing moves into the mix and got some cheers from the guests. It was so fun to dance to! Rehearsal Venue: Cafe Thirty-A cafethirtya.com @cafethirtya
