Kelly and Victor’s floral estate wedding was brought to life in stunning images that captured the couple’s vision of creating a wedding that not only reflected their unique love story but also captured all of their favorite people in a location and with details that were special to them! From the photographer: In these frames, I’ve sought to capture the elegance and love that define a couple’s special day. My lens focuses on the moments of tender vows framed by lush florals and the sun-kissed light against stately backdrops. Each image provides timeless narrative woven with light, intimacy, and the genuine joy of a wedding. How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in college and bonded over the fact that our siblings and our parents had all gone to the same school (UC Berkeley)! Victor asked Kelly if she wanted to get some late night french fries at the nearby dining hall. We ended up talking the entire night and the rest is history! Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship! Victor was so nervous during the ceremony that when the officiant asked him to put the ring on Kelly’s finger, he picked up his ring! Kelly whispered to him that he had the wrong ring, but the officiant’s mic picked it up and everyone heard! Needless to say, there was a lot of laugher. Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. We did three years of long distance when Kelly was in law school in North Carolina because Victor stayed back in California. We saw each other over school breaks, holidays, and on Facetime each week. Kelly tried to convince Victor to move to North Carolina, but unfortunately it’s hard to convince an engineer to leave Silicon Valley! We are fortunate that our families live only twenty minutes apart so we got to see each other whenever Kelly was home. After three years of long distance and a 48-state road trip prior to law school, we knew we could handle anything life threw at us! Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day? We wanted to have our wedding in a place that was special to us, and Victor’s parents home could not have been a more perfect place! We have so many fond memories of hosting barbecues, celebrating birthdays and Christmases, watching our puppy get the zoomies in the foyer, and starting our beekeeping hobby. We got married right in front of the living room fireplace, which was a beautiful yet familiar setting that felt like home. Victor’s mom also handed down a necklace that she received from her mother in law on her wedding day. What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? It was really important to us that our wedding celebrate us as a couple. We had all of our favorite people there, so it only made sense to incorporate other favorites into the wedding day. Kelly loves watermelon agua fresca, so we served that all afternoon. And one of our fondest memories together is going hiking and then enjoying a charcuterie board picnic, so we had a huge charcuterie table at cocktail hour from Beyond the Board Catering. We got so many compliments on both! Another plan we had was to bottle the honey from our beehive to give as wedding favors, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough by April to give to everyone. What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? Our favorite part of planning the wedding was definitely the design aspect. We had an amazing planner (Michelle at Olivia Grace Events) who made mock ups of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces and took us to the rental showroom to look at options. It was so fun picking chargers, linens, chairs, flatware, etc. out with her because she understood our vision perfectly and knew what would look best with our venue. Working with a planner who you know and trust is definitely worth every penny. If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? As cliche as it sounds, find a partner who brings out the best in you and makes you want to be a little more like them. Kelly loves Victor’s calm, rational approach to all obstacles in life, while Victor loves Kelly’s passion for her family, friends, and trying new dessert places. Photographer Helena Wong Photography
