Caroline & Owen’s wedding is a stunning day filled with smiles and joyful tears to match! The color palette of blue, white, and various shades of peach alongside classic details created a feel of soothing elegance and draws you in as you view the images with a beautifully authentic and Christ-centered ceremony that is just lovely to witness!
Caroline and Owen wed at The Grand Lady in Austin, Texas in September. The weather was perfect. Their wedding was a beautiful balance of elegant and whimsical. Their ceremony was incredibly meaningful and they were joined by their closest family and friends. -Leigh Carolyn Media
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? Owen and I met in college when we joined the same organization freshmen year! We happened to be paired together in a group get-to-know-you game and I soon discovered that he was down to earth, genuine, kind, and friendly. I really wanted to get to know him more.
I thought Caroline was beautiful, kind, fun, and out of my league. All turned out to be true!
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. We wanted a short engagement and ended up planning our wedding in 6 months. We thought that it was the perfect length even though we had heard from so many people that it would be hard to pull off. Looking back we are so glad we did it this way because we were so ready to be married! So this is my encouragement to couples to have a short engagement- I promise it is doable!
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? The ceremony was the most important part of our wedding day when planning. We desired that it would be meaningful, authentic, joyful, and Christ-centered. It was a joy to sit down with our friend/mentor/pastor who officiated our wedding and talk about what we wanted our ceremony to reflect. The ceremony was just as special as we hoped it would be; it was filled with laughs, prayers, tears, a sharing of God’s word, and ultimately the most important commitment we would ever make.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? My favorite part of wedding planning was looking at different vendors online and admiring their talent! I was just blown away by the creativity I saw from people all across the wedding industry. It was really fun to talk with a different vendors about the passion they had for their work!
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?If you feel like the other person is being selfish, it is an opportunity for you to be more selfless. Marriage isn’t just for your benefit, and won’t work if you only want to make yourself happy.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another? One of the things I most admire about Owen is his ability to not chase after approval of people. He lives authentically and unashamed. He loves to have fun and pays no mind to what others might think about him. It is incredibly refreshing and leads to a joyful way of living! I learn so much from him in this.
Caroline has taught me to genuinely care for those around me. She loves her friends, family, and myself unconditionally and selflessly, making anyone she interacts with feel important and like they’re her best friend.
What is your favorite thing about each other? I love Owen’s joy that he carries with him. He truly has joy unlike anyone I’ve ever known. He has a gift of bringing that into my life and all those that know him. He can change my outlook on a situation with his contagious optimism and I am so thankful for it.
I love Caroline’s desire to devote her life to serving God. She views her life as a part of something bigger than herself and is stirred by the Lord to serve and love all those around her.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love? “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. We love because Christ loved us.
