“Anne and Ryan wanted to take advantage of the beautiful city they call home, Chicago for their engagement session! A little champagne didn’t hurt either! We are loving their images captured on film and this super photogenic couple!” – Lynzie Hazan of BonphotageÂ
How did you meet?
“We met at a St. Patrick’s Day party that a mutual friend was hosting in Chicago back in 2016. We were introduced and became friends instantly bonding over our careers in Finance. From then on we would casually flirt and go out with groups of friends, but didn’t go on our first date until June of 2017. By the Winter of 2017 we were officially in a relationship and never looked back!”
What is your proposal story?
“With each weekend that would come and go through the Winter of 2019-2020, I (Anne) waited in anticipation thinking, “Could this be the weekend that Ryan would propose?” On the coldest Friday in February 2020, Ryan asked me to go to a company cocktail hour at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Of course, I accepted and immediately googled the venue to decide what to wear (very typical behavior). Ryan was acting so normal all day, so I thought there was no way it was happening that night. He kept his cool, and as our Uber dropped us off near the Zoo and we made the frigid walk towards the entrance, Ryan got down on one knee. Shortly after our close friends popped out of the darkness of the Winter night to congratulate us. There was no company cocktail hour, but there was a warm Irish pub nearby full of family waiting for us to arrive!”
Tell us about the ring/band.
“My engagement ring is an emerald cut diamond with one trapezoid diamond on either side, all laying perfectly on top of a thin platinum band. The diamonds are super clear and brilliant and have the most gorgeous edges embedded in that shine perfectly when the lights hits them.”
Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.
“Having our engagement session be one hour and one outfit is a blessing and a curse. A blessing for a soon to be groom who doesn’t like to be the center of attention, and a curse for a Type-A bride who puts a lot of effort in to any major outfit she wears. I decided to keep it very clean and classic and wear a pair of classic nude patent leather Schutz pumps, with a white silky Danielle Bernstein padded shoulder dress. I also sported meaningful jewelry, David Yurman bracelets gifted by Ryan while we were dating, a David Yurman ring I bought myself when I started my first job, and a pearl bracelet my God Mother gifted me growing up. Ryan also kept it very clean and classic in a blue custom suit, and white button down shirt.”
