Amanda and Charles’ St. Petersburg wedding was an absolutely lovely coastal celebration. The charming mansion was a beautiful shade of pink that was complimented so well by the natural coastal foliage along with the floral and greenery choices the couple chose for their day. Truly a whimsical but chic vibe for Amanda and Charles’ big day!
Amanda and Charles favorite St. Petersburg location is The Don CeSar, so it was no surprise they chose it as the venue to one of the most special days. The day was filled so many laughs and happy tears and one of the most fun wedding parties we have ever met. It was truly magical. -Justin DeMutiis Photography
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met at Auburn University at a Delta Gamma charity event. Our first impressions of each other were we connected immediately and had a lot of similarities. We both are very adventurous and enjoy trying new places to eat. We really connected at that level initially and it opened up to a much deeper level of friendship and love for one another.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
We always make time to listen to each other. Most evenings after work we just sit and talk to one another. It seems so simple but it’s really important to stay connected to one another. Sometimes it’s a huge relief knowing we have someone to go home and talk to at the end of the day.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
We hired a Wedding painter (who did an amazing job!) to paint our ceremony. We had her include our cats Smokey and Bandit in the painting and the guests loved it!
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
The hardest part of wedding planning is staying organized. You feel like you have a million little projects started and nothing finished. It can be overwhelming. It’s very helpful to track everything in a wedding planner and follow up with your vendors to confirm everything timely.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
There was a moment right after the ceremony before the reception we went to the beach to take photos privately with no one else around. It was an intimate moment to spend together as husband and wife right after our ceremony. Justin and Ashley did an amazing job capturing that moment and they are some of our favorite pictures from our wedding day.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is always changing. In a relationship your love for one another will always be evolving. It will be easy most days to love each other but then there are days when it will be challenging. Growing together is one of the most beautiful aspects of marriage and your love for one another will evolve into something that belongs to just you two.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
On our wedding day we had Amanda’s grandmother be the flower girl during the ceremony. She was called the “Flower Nana” since she goes by Nana. It was a really touching way to include family in the ceremony that most wouldn’t think of. The guests really loved that special touch.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
We challenge each other constantly. It can seem frustrating when your significant other is constantly pushing you to try new things, especially when you’re someone that likes to stay in their comfort zone but then you look back and realize how much you’ve grown as an individual and as a couple because of it.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Picking the venue! St.Pete Beach has so many venues to choose from and we ended up choosing The Don Cesar Hotel. It is such a beautiful location and hotel. We loved going there to meet with the staff and look at the event spaces. The tasting for the dinner menu was our favorite visit. I couldn’t begin to describe how amazing the staff were in getting everything ready for us and they went above and beyond on the day of.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Cherish the days before marriage! Marriage is a life changing moment for most couples and there’s something about the days leading up to your wedding that are so special. You feel connected to one another like you never have before so take the time to enjoy that. The last few weeks leading up to the wedding can be so overwhelming and stressful so remember to take a step back and remember why you are getting married in the first place.
