Rebecca and Adam’s California wedding was nothing short of a fairytale. Set on a private family-owned estate in Oakdale, their day was filled with organic beauty, natural textures, and heartfelt moments. From a tearful first look in front of an old greenhouse to celebrating in a “Little Italy” courtyard complete with its own restaurant patio, every element felt deeply intentional and utterly unique.
Rebecca, a hair and makeup artist, styled herself with timeless elegance—her gowns, adorned with delicate floral details, perfectly complemented the soft, romantic florals by Kathie J Designs. As the sun set, the sound of frogs mingling with music created an unforgettable atmosphere for their lakeside dance party. Captured beautifully by Autumn Nicole Photography, the entire day reflected their love: quiet, intentional, and overflowing with joy.
“From greenhouse vows to a lakeside dance party, Rebecca and Adam’s wedding felt like stepping into a fairytale.”
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met on Hinge! I was on the app for 2 days and made a funny comment on one of his pictures, so we started talking. We called each other every night before our first date later that week, and we both knew something was special between us. His first impression of me: “stunning, relieved I wasn’t a catfish, and loved my bubbly personality.” My first impression of him was that he was super tall (6’5”), a gentleman, and great at asking questions.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
Before I made a Hinge account, he had swiped on my sister—but she didn’t respond because she didn’t like one of his outfits! Obviously, it worked out in the end that they didn’t go out.
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
We were honestly very lucky and wedding planning went very smoothly! I’m a wedding hair and makeup artist and blessed to know a lot of tips, tricks, and vendors in our area. The hardest part was that he had a slipped disc in his back and needed two Toradol shots the morning of the wedding to help him walk. He was in a lot of pain but played it off amazingly for pictures. As soon as we got home that night, he needed a lot of meds.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Adam’s family is Dutch, and we had a table of traditional Dutch desserts. I took pictures in my mom’s, grandma’s, aunt’s, and sister’s wedding dress. They had all worn the same one, but I was the first to break the tradition. I still wanted to honor the beautiful gown, so I took pictures in it before and gave them to everyone. Adam’s grandfather passed away shortly before the wedding, and we had a chair with a picture of him and Adam together.
What part of your wedding day was most important to you?
We both loved our first look! I’m so thankful we did that and also shared private vows. I was in the moment the entire day, and it made all my nerves disappear. I had been told that advice from other vendors working in the industry, and I’m so glad we did it. It gave us such a special moment just the two of us.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
We both went deeper in our faith, learning from each other and growing together.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
We both love how hardworking the other is—that was an instant connection for us. We also love each other’s sense of humor. We constantly joke back and forth.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
I loved seeing it all come together! One of my favorite days was picking out my dresses. I just took my mom and ended up choosing the first dress I tried on! My second dress I actually discovered while modeling it for the store—I immediately bought it after the photoshoot. Everyone on set knew I needed it as a second dress.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Don’t let the stress of planning or family drama kill the excitement you have for your day. It’s truly one of the best days of your life and such a special commitment to each other.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
It’s really such a gift. We choose each other every day. We’ve learned so much about love through church and our families and never giving up on your person. I know we will always be there for each other, and if one of us needs something, we’ll drop anything to help.
